Elaine Milito for East Vincent Township Supervisor | |
|
Elaine and her husband Ron have lived in East Vincent Township for the past 30 years and have raised their son and daughter here. They were attracted to the area’s rural beauty, a house with a large sunny yard with gardening potential, access to nearby French Creek, and proximity to their workplaces and the city of Philadelphia. Their love for East Vincent Township has continued to grow over the years. Elaine has dedicated her efforts to preserving its natural beauty and rural character while helping it keep pace with growth. Elaine has been active in local land issues for the past ten years advocating the preservation of prime agricultural land, the protection of natural resources, and comprehensive planning that would protect the rural atmosphere of East Vincent. Six years ago she founded a citizen advocacy group, Concerned Citizen’s of East Vincent (see link to CCOEV), which successfully protected a large farm from irresponsible development. The group continues to work on important township issues as they arise by alerting and educating citizens on these matters as well as helping those who wish to get involved. Elaine, who has a PhD in Mathematics from Penn State, is a full professor and administrator at West Chester University. She serves as Assistant Chair and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Computer Science. Her administrative efforts have led to strong and successful undergraduate and graduate programs:
Elaine was certified as a Master Planner in 2005 by West Chester University and is currently a member of the East Vincent Township Planning Commission. She is dedicated to establishing sound planning and business principles to prepare the township to meet future economic challenges. This requires balancing the need for growth with the need for prudent use of resources. Elaine currently serves as the Planning Commission Representative to the Phoenixville Regional Planning Commission and believes that individual communities can no longer plan in isolation from their neighbors. This Township needs Elaine’s reasoned approach, innovative vision, and ability to work with diverse groups. She will bring important planning experience and analytic expertise to the Board of Supervisors. | ![]() |
